ABSTRACT
The monitoring system of road infrastructures is an important component of the conception, named 'Smart City'. Its mobile realization equips the majority of participants with GPS-trackers, which are often unattainable. The deployment and maintenance of a fixed traffic monitoring system is associated with great financial costs. Multicopters allow traffic monitoring on large areas in real-time processing. The great variety of military tasks that are solved using multicopters proves its efficient use. Nowadays, despite the obvious advantages, it is difficult to find the successful application of multicopters in urban areas. One reason for this is the positioning problem in conditions of dense urban area development. In this paper, in the absence of a GPS-signal, the question of multicopter positioning, at the expense of standard equipment, is considered.

Relaxed hover solutions for multicopters
This paper presents a relaxed definition of hover for multicopters with propellers pointing in a common direction. These solutions are found by requiring that the multicopter remain substantially in one position, and that the solutions ...
Traffic Monitoring on City Roads Using UAVs
Ad-Hoc, Mobile, and Wireless NetworksAbstractUnmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) based systems are a suitable solution for monitoring, more particularly for traffic monitoring. The mobility, the low cost, and the broad view range of UAVs make them an attractive solution for traffic monitoring of ...
Deploying a network of smart cameras for traffic monitoring on a "city kernel"
A relevant aspect when evaluating the city smartness is related to the innovative approach to urban traffic management. We present a system called city kernel, designed to handle several subsystems, each addressing a specific sensor network and we ...
