New standards for educational technology relevant to multiple ACM SIGs

Abstract

Standards are relevant to every ACM SIG. The new JavaScript standardization effort from the European Computer Manufacturers Association would be particularly relevant to SIG Software Engineering. Managing Multimedia information Structures from the European Workshop for Open Systems would be particularly relevant to SIG Multimedia. The new ISO 14000 standards for environmental quality management systems might concern SIG Management Information Systems. One of the latest standardization efforts is for educational technology, and to our knowledge only one formal Standards Development Organization, namely the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), is directly addressing educational technology standards.
