Peggy Anderson (née Lankey)
Former general practitioner Chelford, Macclesfield (b 1915; q Manchester 1939), d 4 June 2000. Two of her three sisters also qualified as doctors at Manchester. She died in Anglesey, where she had lived for the past 25 years. Her husband predeceased her.
Dorothea Bamber (née Kelso)
Former general practitioner Walworth and Streatham, south London (b 1924; q Queen's University Belfast 1950), died from a dissecting thoracic aorta on 19 February 2000. She was the fifth of six children of an Ulster family doctor and four of them chose to study medicine. Her motivation was to pursue a career as a medical missionary and this she did with dedication and enthusiasm, initially with the Irish Presbyterian Mission, and, after her marriage, with the Church Missionary Society in India and Pakistan. On returning to Britain she and her husband worked together in general practice. When she retired she contributed wholeheartedly to church and village life. …
