This article introduces the Electronic Reference Library (ERL) and its functionality. The ERL system runs under a Windows environment using the TCP/IP communication protocol. It consists of three parts, a server, a client and user management software. It can search multiple databases simultaneously. A host of other unique functions offers convenience for not only professional searchers but to endusers. Some disadvantages are also addressed.
