Two uncopulated oval squid (Sepioteuthis lessoniana) being isolated in captivity matured and spawned. They were raised respectively from young stage (squid 1) and hatching stage (squid 2) and had no contact with mature male squid. Squid 1 spawned after 88 d of isolation, and consequently spawned three times with intervals of 6-8 d. Spawned egg cases looked abnormal-each ovum was roughly wrapped in thin gelatinous material. Similarly, squid 2 spawned at 183 d and 195 d post-hatch.
