Abstract
CdZnTe detectors used for SPECT imaging have “tailing effect” - the incomplete charge collection resulting in many photopeak photons incorrectly registered with lower energy. This energy shifted “tail” photons are usually lost for the processing when around the peak energy window is applied in data acquisition. The tail photons are mixed with scattered photons in the lower energy spectrum, which makes the direct energy windows scatter correction methods inappropriate for CdZnTe detectors.
