Abstract
The charge nonlinearity of the photomultiplier reflects the difference between the number of photoelectrons in the anode output signal and the number of photoelectrons in the cathode. In this study, the nonlinearity of the photomultiplier output range from tens of photoelectrons to hundreds of photoelectrons was tested by using a continuous light attenuator and compared with the test scheme of alternating luminescence with double LED light sources. The results show that the maximum nonlinearity measured by the optical attenuation method is 80% higher than that measured by the two-light source method, and the correctness of the optical attenuation method is verified by the numerical sampling method.
