Abstract
Nowadays, real-time video is widely used in many fields such as video calling, live video broadcasting. The delivery latency and reliability requirements for live video are stringent, and using wireless access network to provide real-time video services brings great challenges to the provision of such services. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes a mechanism to support real-time video service on multi-interface wireless devices by utilizing two selective redundancies simultaneously. The mechanism dynamically adjusts the video encoding rate and uniformly FEC encodes, then copies some video frames selectively according to the survival time of the video frames and the impact on the quality of the video, and further arranges their transmission (or part of them) with the help of the neighbor devices. In order to achieve the highest quality of video streaming service when the maximum allowable network bandwidth is given, the mechanism proposed in this paper will dynamically optimize encoding rate, copy number per frame and FEC encoding mode. In order to evaluate the quality based on the original quality and duration of distortion effects, this paper also proposes an evaluation model. The numerical results show that, compared with the existing methods, this method can reduce the video distortion to a certain extent when the network load capacity is low compared with other methods mentioned in this paper.
