Spencer Coatings is promoting a unique paint product which acts as a deterrent to would-be burglars and vandals. PC 99 is a dual purpose non-setting paint for use in the home or the workplace. The coating remains constantly greasy and mobile in all weathers (Plate 2).

PC 99 can be applied to drainpipes, sills, the tops of walls and fences, garage and porch roofs and other accessible areas not subject to handling, load bearing or normal day to day contact.

The Aberdeen-based decorative and industrial coatings manufacturers recently added the product to their range as part of the Wailes Dove brand which they acquired from Pearl Paints.

Robert Stephen, Operations Director at Spencer, says: "PC 99 is an innovative product which already has a proven track record. Our sales so far have been largely to DIY retailers, trade outlets as well as private individuals."

Spencer Coatings Ltd based in Froghall Terrace is one of the few remaining manufacturing business in the city of Aberdeen. The company, one of the only two paint manufacturers in Scotland, specialises in industrial paint and protective coatings for agricultural machinery, motor parts, bridges, pipelines and offshore structures.

Formerly Spencer Paints, the business has been synonymous in the North-east wiflon®, Stainmaster®, Antron®, Coolmax®, Thermolite®, Cordura®, Supplex® and Tactel®.
