CCC launches ecobake non-stick coating

Keywords: Coatings, Non-stick, Ovenware

Cooper Coated Coil (CCC), a specialist in applying coatings to metal coil, has launched ecobake 240, a budget-range non-stick bakeware coating designed specifically for use at high temperatures.

In response to the growing use of convenience foods such as oven chips, pizzas etc. which require cooking at high temperatures, CCC’s new system has been specially formulated for use up to 240°C. Since hotter oven temperatures place greater demands on the coating systems, ecobake 240 has a high polytetrafluorethylene (ptfe) content to ensure good non-stick performance and easy release of the cooked food.

CCC reports that it developed ecobake 240 as a true non-stick alternative to existing entry-level “easyclean” products to offer bakeware manufacturers better performance and value-for-money at the budget end of the market.

As part of its ongoing research and development programme CCC has tested most bakeware coatings used in the UK, measuring food release, adhesion of the coating, staining and wear resistance. Ecobake 240 is reported by CCC to performed significantly better than the entry- level “easyclean” systems tested, scoring a much higher overall mark with particularly good results for release and adhesion of the coating.

Ecobake is available in a range of exterior colours including copper, red, lilac and blue with a choice of either dark or light silver or pewter interiors allowing bakeware manufacturers to differentiate their products easily.

CCC is confident that there will be high demand for ecobake 240. Derek Crawford, CCCIS technical director, said: “We believe the way forward is to develop non-stick coatings for specific applications and price points. Ecobake is a value-for-money system which is stable, offers quality performance and can be used for baking and roasting at higher temperatures”.
