Runcorn, UK based Weilburger Schramm Coatings, manufacturer of specialised industrial coatings, reports that it is working exclusively with Armourcote of Leeds, UK to develop applications for Weilburger's new Alpha Plus non-stick coating.

David Scott from Weilburger said, "Alpha Plus is a two-coat reinforced non-stick coating for spray application to metal substrates. Our objective in developing the coating was to produce an ultra-hard finish offering excellent low friction, abrasion resistance and non-stick properties. These qualities have broadened the coating's potential whilst maximising its effective working life. This has enabled Alpha Plus to be used over a wide and diverse range of applications which is where the expertise of Armourcote has proved invaluable. Armourcote is applying Alpha Plus to industrial bakeware, cereal roller bars, vacuum forming moulds and conical moulders used in bakeries for bread makings.

Armourcote's technical manager, Ian Beckwith believes the potential for Alpha Plus to be enormous within the food processing industry and virtually limitless outside it. "We coat a vast range of components for the oil, automotive, food, aerospace, chemical, construction and general manufacturing industries," he said. "It is something of a departure for us to work exclusively with one coatings manufacturer but in this instance, the co-operation between Armourcote and Weilburger has paid dividends in terms of research and development and types of applications.
