Fencers get complete coating solution

Fencers get complete coating solutionKeywords: Plascoat, Coating, Thermoplastics

Plascoat reports that it is now able to present fencing manufacturers with the complete coating solution following the launch of an extrusion grade of its highly successful and versatile PPA571 thermoplastic coating.

PPA571EG, which claims a host of performance and environmental benefits, is described as a self-adhering material which can be applied to correctly preheated continuous wire at the same high speeds as non-bonding coatings.

According to Plascoat the introduction of the granular version makes the tough, impact-absorbing PPA571 the most flexible thick film coating in terms of application and the most environmentally friendly.

The company informs us that the launch of PPA571EG follows a decade of proven coating performance, first by fluidised bed dipping and then by electrostatic spray application. Plascoat PPA571 is now available in its standard form, as PPA571ES spray, PPA571H and PPA571HES harder grades and as the new PPA571EG extrusion version.

Each is described as a polyolefin based alloy applied in a single shot without the need for a primer, yet still providing excellent long-term adhesion. Other properties claimed include an excellent resistance to sun, sand, snow, salt, pollutants, chipping and vandal attack and an easy repair facility – although no failure of PPA571 in fencing applications has been reported during the product's lifetime.

Plascoat believes that the combination of versions now available means that wire fencing, posts and gate sections can all be coated by a means to suit the applicator and with a grade appropriate to the end product use and local environment.
