Datacon phases out collaboration with Kulicke & Soffa

Datacon Technology AG, will in future be working completely independently in the US and Asia. The Austrian company is responding to the increasing demand for complex, customized packaging solutions and will thus be able to guarantee the shortest communication channels between manufacturer and customers.

By April of this year, a US subsidiary will be up and running with branches in Trevose near Philadelphia and in Phoenix, and will take over the marketing, sales and technical support for the US market. The existing Datacon Asia Ltd. in Singapore is currently also undergoing expansion. In future, under the name Datacon Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., it will be responsible for marketing, sales and technical support in the Asian region. Sales offices in the Philippines, Korea, China and Taiwan will be added, while in Japan collaboration with a representative is planned.

Helmut Rutterschmidt, President and Director of the Board at Datacon Technology AG, explains: "Although our sales partner Kulicke & Soffa has done a fantastic job in the last three years, with our recent rapid growth we have now reached a size which not only allows us to operate independently worldwide, but also makes this a necessity if we are to utilize our dynamic strength and flexibility to the advantage of our customers. Short communication channels and better integration in development are just a couple of the benefits our customers will experience through global direct sales".

To ensure a smooth transition for the worldwide customer base, Kulicke & Soffa will continue to support Datacon's products in the US and Asia during the transitional period and will work closely with Datacon to establish a sales and support structure which guarantees the long-term satisfaction of all customers.

The close collaborative partnership with the existing sales partner – both companies will continue to work together as partners in future in the form of a marketing alliance – is also reflected in the fact that both a large number of the Datacon product specialists and the experienced management of the die bonder division at Kulicke & Soffa will transfer to Datacon's new subsidiaries in the US and Asia.
