Microsoft Virtualisation needs a reference guide and although the structure of this book may not suit everyone, it does provide a great deal of information that will be welcomed by experts in this area as well as these who will read it on a “need‐to‐know” basis.

It provides some 15 chapters that endeavour to tell the reader about:

  • what virtualisation covers;

  • the toolkit of microsoft virtualisation;

  • setting up and managing Hyper‐V;

  • virtual machines and templates;

  • migrations;

  • application virtualisation (App‐V) and deploying App‐V packages; and

  • terminal devices and desktop virtualisation.

The publishers say that the book is a comprehensive reference and it is obviously targeted at information systems professionals whatever their level of expertise. One feature highlighted is that it takes the reader step by step through the essentials of virtualisation.© D.M. Hutton
