Welcome to the first issue of the Journal of Corporate Real Estate (JCRE) in 2008. Throughout this year, we are launching a number of initiatives in JCRE to further enhance the corporate real estate links between the private sector and the academic worlds.

Two of these new changes to the journal can be found in this 10.1 edition. Firstly, we have introduced a new “Talking heads” section which comprises interviews with leading practitioners in the field of corporate real estate and focuses on current issues and key challenges facing the future of corporate real estate. Our first interview is with Keith Cheatham, President and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Real Estate Inc. Secondly, you will find a new “article review” section on p. 68 which aims to incorporate an editorial board member's review of the articles, thereby providing a constructive comment on the main findings from each paper as well as identifying the practical implications. I would like to thank Cesar Chekijian, Principal of CORE-SERVE who has provided some insightful reviews of the papers in this edition of JCRE.

Later in the year we are planning to have a JCRE special edition dedicated to the area of “Integrating Human Resources Management and Corporate Real Estate Strategies” with Dr Barry Haynes, Sheffield Hallam University, as Guest Editor. A call for papers for this special edition has already been released and if you are interested in submitting a relevant paper, further information can be obtained from the following web site – www.emeraldinsight.com/info/journals/jcre/notes.jsp

The JCRE also strives to maintain and build relationships with the top real estate conferences around the world. JCRE recently sponsored a best paper award in the field of corporate real estate at the Pacific Rim Real Estate Society Annual Conference in Malaysia in January. Representatives of the JCRE will also have a presence at the European Real Estate Society Conference in Krakow in June.

I would welcome any thoughts or views you may have on the new changes made to JCRE or the content of this edition.
