Abstract

A CENTRAL‐HEATING boiler remains serviceable for a much longer period when kept in continuous operation throughout the year and not allowed out for the summer. This was proved when identical makes of boilers were installed side by side, one for heating and one for indirect hot‐water supply. The boiler used for the indirect hot‐water supply may last, say, 14 to 18 years, whereas the central‐heating boiler will require replacement after only 9 to 13 years.
