About the Contributors

Juliana Alves (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9520-7017) holds a PhD in Human Geography at the University of Minho, Portugal (2017). She also has a post-doctorate in the Creative Tourism field from Landscape, Heritage and Territory Laboratory (Lab2PT) from the same University. An expert in sustainable tourism management, creative tourism and local and regional development. She was a research assistant at Lab2PT under CREATOUR Project – Creative Tourism Destination Development in Small Cities and Rural Areas (CREATOUR is funded under the Joint Activities Programme of Portugal 2020, by Compete 2020, POR Lisbon, POR Algarve and the FCT). She is also the author and co-author of several papers published in international and national journals and conferences. Besides that, she is part of the Tourism and Development Group (SpaceR – Space and Representation – Lab2PT).

José Cadima Ribeiro (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4434-0766) is a Full Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. He is a Researcher of NIPE (Centre for Research in Economics and Management). His main research interests are regional economics, regional and local development, tourism economics, cultural heritage and industrial location. He has also been involved in a few territorial planning projects.

Mansour Ghanian (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8428-1107) is a Professor of Human Geography at Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources University of Khuzestan, Department of Agricultural Extension & Education, Mollasani, Ahvaz (Iran). His research background and skills are in Human Geography, Rural Tourism and Rural Development. He holds a PhD in Geography and Rural Planning from the University of Tehran (Iran) and a post-doctoral degree from the University of Minho.

Daniela Angelina Jelinčić (https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9140-8498) is a Senior Research Adviser/Full Professor employed by the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO), Croatia. Her specific interests are cultural tourism, cultural heritage management, cultural/creative industries, cultural policy, creativity, the experience economy and social innovations. She was a Fulbright Visiting Researcher (2019/2020) at the University of Georgia. As an Adjunct Professor, she teaches cultural tourism, cultural heritage management, creative industries and creativity at national and international universities and colleges. She authored or (co-)edited a number of scientific books, articles, book chapters, national/international studies and national/local strategic documents and served as the Council of Europe expert for cultural tourism.

Hélder Lopes (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2931-5175) holds a PhD in Geography and Regional Planning at the University of Minho, Portugal and in Geography, Territorial Planning and Environmental Management at the University of Barcelona (2022). He is a researcher at Landscape, Heritage and Territory Laboratory (Lab2PT) and the Group of Climatology of Water Research Institute (IdRA - Barcelona). His main research interests are Tourism, Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Urban Tourism; Environmental Management, Citizen Science, Climate Change, and Regional and Local Development.

Paula Remoaldo (http://orcid.org/0000-0002-9445-5465) is a Full Professor at the Department of Geography of the Social Sciences Institute, University of Minho, Portugal. She is a Researcher of Lab2PT (Landscape, Heritage and Territory Laboratory) and the Tourism and Development group leader in this Laboratory. She authored 115 papers published in national and international journals, 65 indexed in Scopus and/or Web of Science and mainly related to Cultural Tourism and Health Geography. She has also published 20 books and participated in 72 other books as author/co-author of book chapters, the majority in international books. Her main research subjects are in the area of Cultural and Creative Tourism and Regional and Local Development.

Vítor Ribeiro (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5993-3492) is a Professor of Geography at the Department of Geography of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho and the Department of Teacher Training at Paula Frassinetti's School of Education (Portugal). He holds a PhD in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Minho/Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) and a post-doctorate from the University of Minho in Educational Technology. Also, he is an integrated member of the Lab2PT (Landscape, Heritage and Territory Laboratory) of the University of Minho. His main research subjects are Tourism, Transport Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Tourism and Regional and Local Development, Crime Geography and Geographical Education, having several research publications in journals and books. He has participated in international projects, particularly in CREATOUR – Creative Tourism Destination Development in Small Cities and Rural Areas (2017–2019) (Project 016437), granted by European funds (COMPETE 2020, POR Lisbon, POR Algarve) and the FCT.

Elaine Borges Scalabrini (http://orcid.org/0000-0001-7164-2471) has a post-doctorate in the Creative Tourism field from Landscape, Heritage and Territory Laboratory (Lab2PT) at the University of Minho, Portugal. She holds a PhD in Geography from the same University. Besides being a member of Lab2PT, she integrates the Tourism and Territory Group at Univille University (Brazil). She is an expert in tourism impacts, resident perceptions and methodology research.
