Materials chemistry communications. Synthesis, X-ray structure and conductivity of a new molecular conductor derived from a platinum complex: (NHMe3)[Pt(dmit)2]3·CH3CN

Abstract

(NHMe3)[Pt(dmit)2]3·CH3CN (dmit = 4,5-dimercapto-1,3-dithiole-2-thione) has been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography revealing an unusual 1:3 stoichiometry and a strong dimerization through Pt—Pt bonds. This compound exhibits a high (140 S cm–1) room-temperature conductivity, which remains almost constant down to 180 K and then drops sharply.
