The isolation of cycloartenol and 24-methylenecycloartanol from false kola nuts (Garcinia kola Heckel)

Abstract

Light petroleum extraction of false kola nuts (Garcinia kola Heckel) has afforded a fraction containing triterpenes. The fraction has proved very difficult to resolve into individual components but evidence has been obtained for the presence of cycloartenol and 24-methylenecycloartanol.
