The hydrolysis of metal ions. Part 1. Copper(II)

Abstract

The hydrolysis of copper(II) has been investigated by potentiometric titration at 25 °C in 0.10 mol dm–3 potassium nitrate. Advanced computing techniques have been used for data treatment. For the species [Cu(OH)]+, [Cu2(OH)2]2+, and [Cu3(OH)4]2+, values for –log βpq are found to be 7.71 (0.04),10.99 (0.02), and 21.62 (0.03), respectively, the estimated standard deviations being in parentheses.
