Determination of iodine number of oils using Chloramine-T as reagent

Abstract

A simple titrimetric method for the determination of iodine number of oils is described. The method involves the addition of Chloramine-T to alkene double bonds in the presence of ethanoic acid, followed by the determination of unreacted Chloramine-T by iodimetry.
