Synthesis and electrochemical investigations of crown-ether-functionalised bipyrroles

Abstract

The synthesis of crown-ether-functionalised 2,2′-bipyrroles leads to a new class of electrochemically polymerisable monomers. The monomers and corresponding polymers were characterised by spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. In the presence of alkali metal ions the oxidation potentials of the polymers are altered and according to cyclic voltammetry, the observed shifts are at least partially reversible.
