Crystal structure and synthesis of a novel tetranuclear iron(III) complex with a defective double-cubane core

Abstract

A novel tetranuclear iron(III) complex [Fe 4 (OCH 3 ) 6 (acac) 4 (N 3 ) 2 ] (acac = acetylacetonate) has been synthesized and shown by X-ray crystallography to contain an unusual defective double-cubane core connected by µ-OCH 3 and µ 3 -OCH 3 bridges; it also shows an antiferromagnetic interaction.
