Während früher zumeist politische Akteure den gesellschaftlichen Diskurs prägten, üben heutzutage auch Organisationen, allen voran Wirtschaftsorganisationen, einen starken Einfluss auf die öffentliche Meinungs- und Themenbildung aus. Gleichzeitig wird unternehmerisches Handeln von den Medien beobachtet und interpretiert, wird ihnen öffentliches Vertrauen zugesprochen oder entzogen und ihr Handeln damit legitimiert oder skandalisiert.
