Zusammenfassung
Zahlreiche Erkrankungen des Gastrointestinaltrakts sind eng mit der Ernährung verknüpft. Sie können einerseits durch eine Unverträglichkeit gegen Nahrungsmittel ausgelöst werden (Zöliakie , Nahrungsmittelallergie u. a.), andererseits unbehandelt zu einem Nährstoffmangel führen (z. B. Morbus Crohn). Während z. B. bei der akuten Gastroenteritis die restriktive diätetische Behandlung inzwischen eher in den Hintergrund rückt und eine rasche Umstellung auf Normalkost empfohlen wird, hat sich die Ernährungstherapie beim Morbus Crohn als wichtige Therapiealternative etabliert. Bei anderen Erkrankungen wie der funktionellen Obstipation ist die Bedeutung der Ernährungstherapie dagegen zurzeit unklar.
