Abstract
Chattonella antique is a unicellular marine species of raphidophyte, which is a member of Chromophyta. Chromophyta is a large group of algae consisting of brown algae, diatoms and other species that contain chlorophylls a and c. Although angiosperms have been the major plant materials in the study of lipid metabolism, lower plants and algae have unique fatty acids like arachidonic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid and an unusual class of lipid like diacylglyceryltrimethylhomoserine (DGTS).
