Abstract
The implementation of stepped care model in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder is a much-needed innovation in the system of health-care delivery. While other disorders really only occur at the level of the individual, PTSD has the potential to affect a significant number of individuals within communities all at once, such as in the event of major traumatic events like terrorist attacks, war, or natural disasters. While the disorder can also affect people individually, such as in the case of sexual assault or car accidents, the ability to affect entire regions and large numbers of individuals at once creates a need for minimizing therapist time while maximizing outcomes for individuals. As with any disorder, it is also essential to devise a system which allows individuals to seek modes of therapy that appeal to them as consumers, and to allow them the level of care they need based on the severity of their symptom set.
