Abstract

Associations of small mammals with habitat: types, particular species of plants, and soil types at Kirwin National Wildlife Refuge, in north-central Kansas were investigated. Peromyscus maniculatus was positively associated with grassland, and Peromyscus leucopus was positively associated with riparian habitats. No associations of mammals with soil types were found. No positive association of a mammal with a particular species of plant was found, but Sjgmodon hispidus avoided all areas containing western wheatgrass.
