Zusammenfassung
Emotionspsychologische Forschungsmethoden schließen einerseits Verfahren zur Induktion von Emotionen und andererseits Verfahren zur Erfassung von Emotionen ein. Zu den gebräuchlichsten Verfahren zur Auslösung von Emotionen unter Laborbedingungen gehören die Darbietung von Filmausschnitten, Bildern oder Musik, die Velten-Technik, die Imaginationsmethode, das Erinnern eigener Emotionserlebnisse, die Erzeugung körperlicher Veränderungen (z. B. Nachstellen von Gesichtsausdruck) und die Inszenierung von emotionsauslösenden Situationen in experimentellen Settings. Messverfahren können je nachdem, welche Emotionskomponente sie erfassen, drei Ansatzpunkte haben: subjektives Erleben, physiologische Reaktionen und Verhalten (v. a. Mimik). Auf dem dimensionalen Ansatz basierende Messinstrumente erfassen allgemeine affektive Zustände. Verfahren, denen ein kategorialer Ansatz zugrunde liegt, versuchen einzelne spezifische Emotionen zu messen.
