DBU(OAc)–TBAB-Mediated One-Pot Three-component Synthesis of 1H-Imidazol-5(4H)-one Derivatives

Abstract

One-pot three-component synthesis of 1H-imidazol-5(4H)-one derivatives from (Z)-4-(aryl­methylidene)-2-methyl-1,3-oxazol-5(4H)-one, methylamine, and N-benzylideneaniline has been developed using DBU (OAc) as an ionic liquid catalyst and TBAB as promoter. The reactions were carried out on heating at 75–80°C for 25–30 min to afford (4Z)-4-(arylmethylidene)-1-methyl-2-(2-phenylethenyl)-1H-imidazol-5(4H)-one derivatives in good yields.
