A wide-acceptance recoil mass spectrometer for the LNL XTU tandem accelerator

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

A recoil mass spectrometer has been designed to be used with the 16 MV XTU tandem accelerator to study, in particular, heavyion fusion-evaporation reactions. It will combine the two functions of elastic-beam rejection and analysis of reaction products according to their mass per unit charge (m/q). The wide acceptance of this instrument will be helpful in studying «exotic» heavy products with low production rate.
