It is always a pleasure to welcome a new edition of a renowned dictionary with such a comprehensive cover of medical and scientific terms and words. A comparison with previous editions does show a remarkable overhaul. The major strength of this dictionary is its 80 year history and the high standard it has set for itself. References cover every branch of medicine plus a few related sciences. The line drawings of body structures are excellent, often surpassing the artistry found in anatomy books; where colour is employed it is used to very good effect. For exactitude, one has only to look up 'ligament'. In addition to the meaning of the word, there are 14 pages of fine detail combined with artistic examples. 'Plexus' likewise receives equally detailed treatment.
