Sue Arnold Writes, The Observer

Sue Arnold is registered blind. At a party, she smoked a joint and found her eyesight returning

‘EXCUSE ME,’ I said to the young man unloading tomatoes in Waitrose. ‘I wonder if you could help me. I don’t see very well and I’m looking for fresh tarragon.' The young man straightened up and looked at me hard. ‘I know,’ he said. ‘I’ve seen you on television smoking cannabis’. Chance would be a fine thing and if the ITV producer had chanced his arm by allowing me to smoke dope on the small screen we’d probably have had Inspector Knacker beating on the studio door afterwards.
