Abstract

Eight mosquito species: Aedes nipponicus, Ae. japonicus, Ae. albopictus, Ae. flavopictus, Ae. togoi, Armigeres subalbatus, Lutzia vorax and Tripteroides bambusa were collected during the daytime by human-baited collections and larval collections from four inhabited islands: Kushima, Tojima, Kashima and Hiburijima of Uwajima City, Shikoku, Japan. These species were recorded for the first time from the offshore islands of Uwajima City. Eight mosquito species: Ae. nipponicus, Ae. japonicus, Ae. albopictus, Ae. flavopictus, Ar. subalbatus, Culex pipiens complex, Lt. vorax and Tr. bambusa were collected by human-baited collections and larval collections from the trunk of Uwajima City. Male Ae. albopictus and Tr. bambusa were observed feeding on the flowers of Japanese knotweed Fallopia japonica (Polygonaceae).
