Abstract
Selenium thin layer solar cells have been fabricated in an ITO–Se structure. The cells exhibit an acceptable conversion efficiency of about 2.5 percent under AMI illumination, with an open-circuit voltage of 0.5 V, a short-circuit current density of 10 mA/cm2, and a fill factor of 0.5. The photovoltaic performance makes a very good comparison with that of ordinary selenium cells.
