This research studied the experiences and transformational learning of story-telling volunteers. In addition, the effect of long-term involvement in story-telling activities on the psychological health of business employees was examined. This research applied a qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews to collect data. Interviewees were five current business employees who have been volunteer story-tellers for more than one year. Composite inductive analysis was conducted on the interview data, and the results are as follows: 1 The narrators had positive experiences, including gaining courage to confront crisis and gaining a sense of meaning. 2 The narrators experienced transformational learning, including the cultivation of “empathy” and “multi-dimensional thinking ability”. 3 Business employees who had long-term participation in story-telling experienced positive impact on their psychological well-being through team work and service, and increase in social support; through narration and listening, they also experienced increased “self actualization”. The results were discussed and recommendations provided accordingly to assist in the design of Employee Assistance Programs for business employees, and serve as reference for future research in business counselor training and self-instructional training.
