This article focuses on a school-age child suffering from Moyamoya disease. This disease resulted in left-sided hemiplegia and changes in body and outer appearance. The loss of control of the body also made the child experience depression and negative evaluation. The nursing experience was intended to help the patient reaffirm self-worth and value, with the nursing period lasting from Dec. 18th to 25th 2015. The systematic assessment of observations, talks, and body and mind changes confirmed that the child had health problems such as powerlessness, body image disturbance, and mobility-impaired physical difficulties. The nursing process focused on individual care and the development of companionship that established a relationship of trust and care with the child. The whole nursing process and the rehabilitation plan helped the child patient accept changes in his outer appearance, and reaffirm his self-worth and value. With the help of peers, family members and medical teams, the child became willing to participate in rehabilitation and follow-up treatment. A good rehabilitation plan will not only promote the recovery of body, mind and spirit of the patient but help them return to their family and school life as well.
