Epilepsy is the most common chronic neurological disease in childhood. Both attributes of this disease and social stigma affect children's development and their quality of life. The purpose of this article is to review the literature related to children and their family adaptation with epilepsy, with emphasis on factors related to families and children's adaptation to disease management. We retrieved the factors by reviewing research findings in two major factors of ”the epilepsy related factors” and ”the individual related factors” that influence the adaptation of children and their family with epilepsy. Finally, useful information regarding therapeutic interventions are provided for health professionals in helping children and their family successful cope with epileptic chronic condition and enhancing their quality of life.
