Location and Direction Based Two-Hop Routing Protocol in Delay Tolerant Networks

摘要

Delay Tolerant Networks are networks different from the conventional ones, which lack of continuous connectivity and frequent disruptions and have no guarantee of an endto- end connection between the source and the destination. Inspired by the idea of utilizing the location and direction of nodes in the network, we propose an improved routing protocol in this paper. Two approaches are presented to introduce the protocol: the one-hop transmission and the twohop one. Extensive simulations demonstrate that the packet delivery ratio, throughput, end-to-end delay and routing overhead of the proposed protocol outperforms some well-known ones in DTNs. Moreover, the two-hop transmission is better than the one-hop transmission in terms of three metrics evaluation, though the latter’s overhead ratio is better. Since the proposed protocol satisfies communication demand in DTNs, it proves to be an improvement to the previous works and also serves as a substantially more suitable scheme for high delivery ratio.
