This is the underlying data supporting a study titled "The Popular Culture of 3D Printing: When the Digital Gets Physical" (https://doi.org/10.4018/978-1-5225-8491-9.ch012).
Data was collected for 30 of the most popular things on Thingiverse on 26th August 2018. Data includes the number of views, downloads, likes, makes, comments and remixes for each thing. Additional metrics were calculated incorporating the initial upload date of each thing to show trends over the lifetime of a thing, and the total number of things on Thingiverse was also recorded to provide context.
Ongoing data from 26th August 2018 has also been collected over 500 days for a separate longitudinal study, and can be accessed here https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.12319985.v1
