Abstract

The reversals can be divided according to the pole movement characteristics during transitional periods. The same reversal investigated at distant sections (some hundred kilometers apart one from another) has similar pole paths, while the neighbour reversals can have different pole paths. The virtual pole positions during a reversal have preferable regions which can be considered as one of the evidences of core asymmetry.
