Creation of information system of the Republic of Kazakhstan groundwater resources and reserves implies the accumulation, systematization, processing and analysis of historical and operating data about status and use of groundwater and environmental bodies related to it. The system includes different-scale geoinformational models. Each model is built on the basis of materials contained in bases of semantic and graphical data.
Semantic database contains structured text and numerical information. Spatial data are included into the graphical database implemented in the form of a geoinformational system. Tables of semantic database are related to graphics objects by a special identifier field.
Geoinformational model of South Kazakhstan groundwater resources and reserves was created with account to peculiarities of the territory geology. Irregular distribution of groundwater resources and reserves in the territory is the result of the region situation on junction of fold-mountain and platform geological structures.
Information about groundwater deposits, groundwater observation objects, distribution of groundwater forecast resources and mineable reserves and other was entered into the semantic database.
Cartographic data reflecting state of knowledge of South Kazakhstan groundwater was entered into the graphics database. Such data include the region hydrogeological map, layout of economic activity objects, space images of different scale, maps of explored groundwater deposits, layouts of classified hydrogeological posts, maps of groundwater natural reserves, maps of natural, forecast and mineable resources of the territory, schematic map of level of provision with groundwater prospected resources etc.
