The Sayak ore district is located in the north-eastern part of the Balkhash region and contains industrial molybdenum-copper and gold mineralization, which is represented mainly by skarn deposits, as well as smaller deposits and ore occurrences of hydrothermal-vein, porphyry and karst types. They are located mainly in the eastern part of the Sayak graben-syncline, which is composed of volcanic-sedimentary rocks of the Middle and Upper Paleozoic age. The Upper Paleozoic complex is accompanied by granitoid intrusions preceded by basaltoid magmatism.
The main source of energy of ore metallic matter for all the above mineralization types as well as the ore of transporting fluids is granitoid magmatism. These are diorites, quartz diorites, granodiorites, granites of fairly large intrusive massifs, as well as veins. The volcanogenic-sedimentary rocks of the Sayak graben-syncline and the magmatic formations breaking through them served as the ore deposition environment.
Thus, the four main components of the ore-forming systems of the Sayak ore district are fairly clearly defined: the source of ore, transporting agents and their origin, the area of ore deposition, and the source of energy.
The most important industrially in Sayak ore district are copper and gold deposits. The main useful components of skarns and associated related ores are molybdenum, copper, gold, silver, as well as cobalt, bismuth, iron and some others.
