There is a cleft epiphysis of the big toe proximal phalanx. An accessory ossicle, os tibiale externum, is also seen. Otherwise normal examination.
Case Discussion
A cleft or divided epiphysis is a normal variant most commonly seen at the big toe proximal phalanx and should be differentiated from a fracture. The cleft disappears once growth plate fusion occurs.
