Case contributed by Stacy Goergen
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Fetal MRI for further assessment of ultrasound finding.

Patient Data

Age: 26w2dGA
Gender: Female

Left-sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia containing small bowel, transverse and descending colon, stomach, and a small portion of the left lobe of liver.

Case Discussion

Observed : expected total lung volume is 0.33 and proportion of liver herniation is 15%. On the assumption of normal microarray and absence of cardiac disease, and based on the absence of any other structural abnormalities demonstrated today, the current findings are suggestive of severity at the lower end of the spectrum, based on lung volume and liver herniation, and thus lower than average likelihood of perinatal morbidity / mortality associated with the CDH.
