Influence of cation ordering and Li content on solid solution behavior in LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4
Abstract: For energy storage applications, high energy density is an important material characteristic when searching for new types of suitable materials. LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 (LNMO) is an interesting material with an energy density of around four times that of one of the most commercialized materials in Li-ion batteries, LiCoO2. This experiment aims to investigate any structure related limitations to delivering the full capacity of the material as these limitations are not fully understood yet. This is important for optimizing the electrochemical performance of LNMO as an energy storage material.
