Aromatic/aliphatic binary mixtures in a porous substrate studied by total neutron scattering – flow loading part 1

Abstract: Confined liquids are an important subject of research in many areas, such as geology, biology, food and drug preservation, and heterogeneous catalysis. These liquids can have different properties than in standard bulk conditions. For example, water confined in nanopores have demonstrated that liquid states can persist down to temperatures much lower than in the bulk liquid. Understanding the structure of confined liquids can explain why these properties change. The aim of the proposed experiment is to study structures of binary mixtures confined in pores of MCM-41 that would mimic a mixture during benzene hydrogenation containing the reagent and the final product.
