Carbon dioxide dynamics in zeolitic imidazolate framework 7
Abstract: Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are crystalline structures, often related to silicates, with well-defined porous networks. Structures that are based on zeolite topologies, ZIFs, have potential applications in gas storage and separation. Preliminary evidences for the CO2 diffusion in ZIF-7 have been provided by theoretical calculation and our neutron powder diffraction experiment. The ligand-CO2 interaction in ZIF-7 is being studied using our recently-collected inelastic neutron scattering (INS) spectra at TOSCA, ISIS. Based on our previous work, we intend to apply QENS of ZIF-7 to study the dynamic properties of adsorbed CO2 in ZIF-7. The feasibility of this proposal has been tested by our very recent (last week) QENS Xpress experiment using IRIS, ISIS.
