THE INCLUSION OF THE RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DEFICIENCY IN THE SOCIAL CONTRACT: A COMPARATIVE APPROACH

Description

The purpose of this study is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the relevance of the social contract in contemporary society, with a particular emphasis on the imperative to incorporate the rights of people with disabilities in this context. The basic idea behind the social contract is that individuals agree to relinquish certain natural freedoms in exchange for the protection and order provided by the state. This concept seeks to justify the legitimacy of political power and authority over citizens. Through a comparative approach, the perspectives of Jean-Jacques Rousseau (2015) and Thomas Hobbes (2018) regarding the foundations of the social contract will be examined. Additionally, the ideas of John Dewey (1997) and Paulo Freire (2000) will be explored to provide a broader understanding of the inclusion theme. The methodological approach used for this study is a literature review, drawing on academic sources and specialized literature to analyze and interpret the works of the mentioned authors. Through this analysis, and in the pursuit of building an equitable society, the need to include the rights of people with disabilities in this social contract will emerge, given the necessity to respect the capabilities and dignity of each person.
