Description
Faced with the difficulties of deaf people in resorting to qualified psychological care and the importance of specialized psychologists to meet this demand, the present study sought to identify the scientific evidence about psychological care for deaf people in the Brazilian context. To this end, a scope review was carried out with defined criteria and steps. The problem to be studied was delimited; data sources were selected; the search descriptors were chosen; the results were searched for and stored; the articles were selected using the listed criteria; the data was extracted; the articles were evaluated; and the data were interpreted through thematic analysis. From the ten selected articles, the results showed the importance of breaking with the simplistic logic of understanding deafness only as an organic clinical condition in the psychological context, in addition to the urgency in training and training in Libras for psychologists inserted in Brazilian health services . Data also revealed the need to create different communication and management strategies to be adopted by professionals, highlighting the construction and validation of instruments to operationalize the adopted behaviors. Finally, it is concluded that the communication barriers between professional and deaf patient can cause the presence of a translator/interpreter to mediate the communication between the pair, and can end up generating therapeutic and ethical interference in the psychological care provided.
